Introduction

The following guide will help you bridge LAVA ERC-20 tokens, from EVM chains like Arbitrum, to the Lava blockchain.

Verify you are using the right LAVA Token address

Always verify that you are interacting with the correct smart contract and LAVA token.

There are many fake tokens already claiming to be LAVA.

Note: while Lava is a Cosmos appchain, and the LAVA token follows the Cosmos standard, when bridged to EVM networks like Arbitrum, you will need to interact with the LAVA ERC-20 version.

Always verify the ERC20 token you are interacting with, e.g. on Arbitrum, has the correct token contract address:

Fake LAVA tokens:

For example, the following are all fake tokens on Uniswap and will appear on any DeFi app. You can see the token addresses under the token name are incorrect, although some scams are sophisticated and use contract addresses similar to the real LAVA address.

These are fake LAVA tokens in the Uniswap interface

Some routers like Squid Router will only show the correct token address in the UI. Other dapps like Uniswap will not do as much filtering, so you must be extra careful to select the real LAVA token.

You always can copy and paste 0x11e969e9B3f89cB16D686a03Cd8508C9fC0361AF directly into any dapp.

How to view LAVA ERC-20 in your Metamask (EVM Wallet)

Sometimes, you will have LAVA ERC-20 tokens already, but your wallet will not show it. This is because you have not enabled the view in your wallet.

Follow the steps below in this guide to see LAVA ERC-20 tokens in your EVM wallet: www.lavanet.xyz/blog/lava-metamask

Always make sure to verify the token address before interacting.

Arbitrum → Lava Mainnet

Step 1.

Open the following link:
https://app.squidrouter.com/?chains=lava-mainnet-1%2C8453&tokens=ulava%2C0x11e969e9B3f89cB16D686a03Cd8508C9fC0361AF

Step 2.

Press the From → connect wallet button, make sure Arbitrum is selected and connect your EVM wallet:

Step 3.

If you don’t already have LAVA in your wallet, change the token and press on the little (+) button next to LAVA:

Step 4.

Choose how many tokens you would like to bridge. In this case we will bridge 5 tokens from Arbitrum to Lava:

Step 5.

Connect your Cosmos wallet, and press “Give permission to use tokens” and press “Next” to approve.

Step 6.

Wait for the transaction to finish and your verification is submitted.

Step 7.

Click "add address" to connect your Cosmos wallet, where you will receive your LAVA:

Step 8.

Now you're back on Squid, click Submit to swap your LAVA ERC-20 on Arbitrum into LAVA on Lava blockchain.

If you do not have enough tokens to complete the swap, it will say "Insufficient balance":

Step 8.

Approve the transaction. All EVM networks will have the same process. This screenshot, for example, shows LAVA ERC-20 being sent from Base to Lava:

Step 9.

You should see the transaction being processed, this can take a few minutes. Go make some coffee 🙂

Step 10.

In the meanwhile, you can press the View link to see the status on Axelar:

Step 11.

All done 😇

Conclusion

LAVA ERC-20 can be used on EVM networks such as Arbitrum. This guide shows how to bridge back to Lava blockchain, for anyone who wants to secure the network, join as an RPC provider or buy subscriptions for RPC over Lava. Keep up with the latest on Lava Network

Lava is the blockchain through which users and builders connect to all other blockchains. Lava coordinates a decentralized network of infrastructure providers to handle RPC and APIs requests across any network.

We invite RPC providers, dapp developers users, researchers and open-source contributors to play with Lava Mainnet.
