Applications Open: Add Evmos RPC to Lava Mainnet

Incentivized Public RPC

Introduction

Evmos is a scalable and interoperable blockchain network built on the Cosmos SDK that allows for easy deployment and interaction with Ethereum-based applications.

It's designed to bridge the gap between Ethereum and Cosmos, offering developers access to a multi-chain ecosystem with faster transactions and lower fees. And with Lava—a permissionless infrastructure protocol—users can effortlessly connect to blockchains like Evmos.

Now, Lava is on the hunt for its very first Mainnet Spec Champion for Evmos!

Deadline to apply is 8 October.

Spec Champions are crucial to the Lava ecosystem as they:

  • Write and maintain the specification for a new chain to be supported on Lava.
  • Propose the specification to Lava governance for ratification.
  • Keep the spec up-to-date with new APIs and protocol updates.
  • Provide support to RPC Providers, answering questions, providing updates, and offering guides.

How to Apply

Step 1 [YOU ARE HERE] - Submit your application for review:

  • Submit a pull request (PR) with your Evmos spec to Lava’s GitHub repository.
    • Note: If a base Evmos spec already exists, your application should focus on why you’re an excellent fit to maintain the spec.
    • Include your Discord username in the PR.
    • Add your Lava wallet address(es) in the spec.
    • Specify your desired commission rate for LAVA tokens in your application, based on the following criteria:
      • +1% for supporting and running a provider on testnet.
      • +1% for creating the spec from scratch (spec inheritance is only worth 0.5%, but is mandatory when possible).
      • +1% for benchmarking Compute Units (CU) and timeouts.
      • +1% for providing active support to Providers (if you help maintain more than 20 providers over 3 months).
      • +2-3% if you help incentivize ecosystem pools via referral.
    • Write 500 words on why you’re the best fit to champion the Evmos spec. For example:“I’m an active validator on Evmos, I’ve contributed to the Lava testnet, and I plan to provide long-term support for Evmos on Lava.”

Once your application is reviewed:

Step 2 - Receive feedback from the Lava Foundation:

The Lava Foundation will let you know if they will support your proposal to Lava governance. You are also free to create a proposal independently, but we highly recommend discussing your plans with the Foundation before submitting it on-chain to ensure support from token holders.

You can learn more about submitting proposals here.

Rewards

Lava’s tokenomics incentivize essential contributors to the network. Spec Champions, like RPC Providers, are compensated in LAVA tokens based on the commission rate set in the proposal.

  • Earn LAVA and other ecosystem tokens (e.g., EVMOS) every time the spec is used.
    • For example, as an Evmos Spec Champion, you'll earn LAVA and EVMOS every time an RPC provider uses your spec to serve Evmos RPC requests.
  • Note: Spec Champions can be replaced through a governance vote if needed.

You can find more details about Spec Champion rewards in our tokenomics docs.

Conclusion

Being a Spec Champion is one of many ways to contribute to Lava. We are excited to welcome a new Champion for Evmos, and we encourage you to submit your application soon!
