These providers excelled by servicing many requests for users, while maintaining low latency, high uptime and sync 💪
This month, there have been multiple active providers who were participating with a higher stake than the allowed limit, across all chains. This can help them gain an unfair advantage over other providers which is why
Lava Foundation and Evmos agreed to enforce a penalty in the reward calculation.The penalty is a CU reduction equal to half of the overstaking rate, up to 50%. So for example if a provider had 50% more stake than the allowed amount, they received 25% CU reduction. In the case that a provider crossed the limit with multiple providers, the penalty was a 15% reduction across all their providers.
These penalties are only a warning at this stage, and will be the same across April-May. We ask all providers to self-enforce the 50,000,000,000 and 100,000,000,000 (for only a handful of specific partners) staking limits as future penalties will be much more significant.
